1. How did you first start sailing with OYT Scotland?
1993 on Taikoo. I become a Director aged 17 of Ocean Youth Club and have never looked back!
2. What’s your favourite OYT Scotland memory?
Sailing across the Pacific with Ocean Youth Club in 1996 and making friends for life along the way.
3. What is your job outside of OYT Scotland and what particular set of skills do you bring to the organisation?
I am Scottish Rugby’s Chief Operating Officer. I joined Scottish Rugby in January 2008 from a previous post at drinks giant Pernod Ricard. My role also gives me responsibility for Scotland’s two Professional teams Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby…..allowing me to get out to some matches now and again. As well as my Director’s role with OYT Scotland I am also a Director of the Celtic League/Pro12 Board and also a Director of European Rugby governing body, Rugby Europe. I bring sailing and business experience to the Trust; having been involved for a number of years I am keen that we both hold onto our core values and develop and change with the economic and social environment of today.
4. Why do you enjoy being on the board of OYT Scotland?
OYT Scotland is a fantastic organisation and it gives wonderful opportunities to young people to challenge themselves through the adventure of sailing. I am passionate as are my Board about giving a many young people the experience to enjoy the camaraderie of sailing.
5. What are your hobbies apart from sailing with OYT Scotland?
I have my own yacht and try to put to sea whenever I can with friends and family.
