Get to know the OYT Scotland Volunteers! ⛵

In today’s ‘Meet the OYTS volunteers’ we meet Naomi Farrimond, a relatively new volunteer with the Trust but who has a fantastic future ahead as a valued member of the OYT Scotland family.

Today’s volunteer: Naomi Farrimond

⛵ Q: How long have you been a volunteer with OYTS and what is your role as a volunteer?

A: I started volunteering last year having been a group leader for 3 years before. I am hopefully taking my first voyage as a watch leader this year when the season hopefully starts up.

⛵ Q: Proudest or most memorable sailing moment?

A: Sailing as a group leader and seeing the young people blossom into sailors, the confidence they took back from the voyages is I valuable. Personally, I made it to Harris last year which was the longest sail I had been part of and ticked a bucket list item off!

⛵ Q: What made you start volunteering with OYT Scotland?

A: I sailed as a group leader and saw the difference it makes to the young people. It took me a few years to get organised but the combination of developing my sailing skills, youthwork and working alongside some fantastic people was too good to miss.

⛵ Q: What is your favourite part of being a volunteer with OYT Scotland?

A: Apart from the people, the boats and seeing young people flourish? Fish finger wraps whilst under sail!

⛵ Q: If you were a boat, what kind of boat would you be and why?

A: One with sails!
