Sail

I’m delighted to have been asked to join the Board of Ocean Youth Trust Scotland. I’m probably something of a rarity on the Board, as my introduction to sailing was just a few weeks ago with the Trust. However, I can see exactly the huge attractions and challenges of sailing and I think what the Trust has to offer young people is something pretty special.
My work has always had young people very close to its centre and I’ve spent roughly 36 years working in Scottish Local Government. Having started my work life as a Youth & Community Worker I’ve had the tremendous privilege of holding some very senior posts during my career, my final position having been that of Chief Executive. As I’ve said a very strong interest in the lives young people this has been an ongoing feature of my work life. In addition, I’ve been a Board Member of Young Scot for many years and have held the position of Vice Chair for close to 5 years.
I hope I can bring my experience to OYT in a way which assists the future success of the Trust. I’m very much looking forward to it.
