Why did you join OYT Scotland?
I was thrilled to be asked to join the board of trustees at the Ocean Youth trust. Having spent most of my career working in Banking and technology I will bring a corporate viewpoint based on knowledge and a variety of experiences to help me support the vision of this great charity.
I am enthusiastic about OYT as a charity as the work they do is truly life changing for the young people who go on their voyages. Although I have only been part of the organisation for a short time I have already met a number of inspiring young people whose life courses have been altered by the experience of sailing with us. I can identify with this personally as I have been a keen sailor for many years, including taking a career break to be a sailing instructor in Greece to help me build those precious miles to finally achieve my Yachtmaster.
What is your job outside of OYT Scotland and what particular set of skills do you bring to the organisation?
I work in the financial services industry so this background will help me support and challenge the board including asking the difficult questions to ensure we remain on course towards our vision. In addition I will support OYT Scotland in their drive to ensure the maximum number of young people can benefit from sailing with us by looking to understand options for potential corporate sponsorship opportunities.
Tell us a fascinating fact about you!
Well fascinating may overstate it but I am currently the silver medal holder of the Women’s All England Stone skimming championship – anything relating to water is good for me.
