Dear Members,
Please see below a quick update on what's been happening or what's coming up!
Refit Help Required!
There is loads of work going on onboard the boats this winter particularly on Alba Venturer who is going through her 25 Year Refit!
If anyone can spare even a few hours to help down at the refit yard that would be amazing, there is plenty of stuff to do for everyone at any skill level. You could have never have picked up a paint brush or could be a dab hand at DIY - we will find a job for you! If your coming from far away we can also provide accommodation in the refit flat.
Please drop us a line at refit@oytscotland.org.uk or text Wil on 07444 734061.
Refit Weekend: 3rd - 4th Feb '24
We are organising a refit weekend in the new year, all volunteers are welcome to come along and help out! It's a great opportunity to get to know the boats, where everything is stored and how it all works... but also to meet our staff and other likeminded volunteers. We will of course ensure there is plenty of tea/coffee and cake to go round!
Where: Alba Explorer, James Watt Dock Marina, East Hamilton St, Greenock, PA15 2UA
When: 3rd - 4th February 2024
If you would be interested in coming along, please contact refit@oytscotland.org.uk.
Small Boat Training - Coming soon!
Apologies for the delays in getting dates out for the small boat training programme. After planning the small boat season for 2024 we received an incredibly generous offer for the use of a small boat for training at a fraction of the cost to chartering. This means we need to change our plans and are working hard to get everything in place to allow us to use this vessel for training our members.
We will have some small boat dates for you by the seminar at the latest and we'll keep you posted with any updates.
