Five Ferries Challenge – Hoorah!

On Saturday 31st May, 26 cyclists took part in the Five Ferries Challenge cycling 52 miles in one day to raise funds for OYT Scotland. Starting in Ardrossan, the cyclists took on the first leg of the challenge in record time, but due to the traffic, missed the Lochranza ferry to Clonaig. Undeterred, they had an extra long lunch break, then arrived in Clonaig to make the 10 mile cycle to Tarbert. Their next challenge was the 14 mile uphill climb to Colintraive, taking in the breath-taking views along the way. Finally arriving in Colintraive ahead of schedule (and avoiding the cows) they cycled the final 8 miles to Rothesay to be welcomed by the Isle of Bute Sailing Club and a BBQ. The final ferry journey to Wemyss Bay was a happy occasion.

Well done to everyone who completed the challenge, raising an amazing £5k- and still counting!

A special thanks to the volunteers and to George Leslie Ltd for the recovery van, CalMac for the ferry tickets and AG Barr for the water/soft drinks.
