On 8 November 2019, The Trust was thrilled to host our 20th anniversary ball at the Glasgow Grosvenor Hilton Hotel, marking 20 years of Ocean Youth Trust Scotland. In that time, we have taken to sea more than 14,000 young people, changing the course of many lives.
Hosted by Capital FM’s Garry Spence, the evening was a resounding success, bringing together supporters old and new to celebrate all that the Trust has achieved. OYT Scotland cadet, Yasmin Price, spoke eloquently of her incredible journey from leaving school to achieving her Coastal Yachtmaster at just 17 years of age. Keynote speaker Jamie Dalgoutte (25) spoke of his experiences with OYT Scotland and how his voyages both enlightened him and helped him overcome a gruelling 21 years in the care system.
An incredible £15,000 was raised on the night. We would like to say a huge thank you to all those who attended the event, and who donated raffle and auction prizes. Special thanks to Calmac and Owen Sails for sponsoring tables of young people and to Boe Gin for their generous support.
