Second group of Highlanders set sail!

Last week, a second group of young people from the highlands set sail with us on a voyage part funded by CashBack for Communities. Their trip took them on an island hopping experience, visiting Kerrera, Mull, Skye, and Rhum, covering 160 nautical miles in total.

Over the course of the week they learned the ins and outs of sailing our 72ft yacht Alba Explorer. They took on the challenges of navigating and steering the boat, hoisting and dropping the sails, tying knots and cooking for the whole crew.

The young people on board certainly enjoyed their week, especially the food! One quote which seemed to sum up all their feelings was this: “Had good food, saw dolphins and a puffin – so all in all a good day”

There was also an obvious appreciation for what they’d gained from the voyage:
“I learned how to work together with others – and discovered how important it is in a small space!”
“I’m no longer lonely”
“I’ve had a wonderful week”

One of the group leaders who was also on the voyage had this to say: “A fantastic experience. They’ve learnt new skills and I’ve seen an increase in confidence in all of them”

A massive thanks as always to everyone who made this voyage a success!
