Success on Arran!

Earlier this month we welcomed over 170 cyclists to Arran for the fourth annual Arran Sportive fundraising event in aid of Ocean Youth Trust Scotland.

Cycling clockwise around the island, the riders faced some tough conditions with a strong wind making the final few kilometres challenging. We saw some amazing times with the fastest rider completing the course in a magnificent 2 hours 49 minutes and 6 seconds! Participants and their families were rewarded with a tasty BBQ and home baking back at the Ormidale Pavilion in Brodick.

We have had some fantastic feedback from this years’ participants:

“A great event, well organised and run. Proud that I’ve taken part in all four years. Looking forward to next year already. Well done everyone.”

“Great event. Well organised, nice relaxed atmosphere and great BBQ at the end!”

Overall it was a really great day which raised over £5,000 for the Trust! The proceeds will go towards subsiding life changing voyages at sea for those who otherwise would not be able to enjoy such opportunities.

A huge thank you to all of the staff and volunteers who helped out and to the motorbike marshals from Two Wheeled Marshal Group who provided invaluable support on the day and kept everyone safe out on the route. Thanks to Turner Hire Drive who donated a vehicle for the event and to George Leslie whose van provided medical support and for the group of George Leslie staff who took part.

The date for the 2020 Arran Sportive has been set for Saturday 5th September. We would love to see as many people there as possible so dust off your bikes and sign up to take part! Keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter pages for details on how to register.
