Time is flying by and we are into our third week of the sailing season here at OYT Scotland. So far we have seen Helensburgh & Lomond Young Carers undergo their Adventure under Sail. Thanks to KPMG for supporting this group with funding. Last week saw the first of three groups of City of Glasgow College – Nautical Studies Students on board both Alba Venturer and Alba Explorer. Calling themselves “Jolly Rogers”, the team ran the course which encompassed 5k running, and was interspersed with 15 obstacles, including a river run, carrying Atlas balls and finishing with a run through fire. “It was really hard work, but it was great fun

He was nominated to represent Inverclyde due to his volunteering commitments with the trust. This year Alex has sailed on 15 youth voyages, sailing over 3,000 nautical miles,

The Scottish Government is donating £375,000 over three years to allow 576 young people to experience an adventure under sail with Ocean Youth Trust Scotland’s New Horizons programme.
