Alba Volunteer has some new equipment!

At the weekend our Cadets Heather and Ollie fitted an EPIRB and a fridge to Alba Volunteer. Well done cadets and huge thanks to North East Support Group from Aberdeen for donating the EPIRB and Clyde Support Group for the fridge. Just a heater to go and wee boat will have all the comforts of home!

The sailing season has begun!

Time is flying by and we are into our third week of the sailing season here at OYT Scotland. So far we have seen Helensburgh & Lomond Young Carers undergo their Adventure under Sail. Thanks to KPMG for supporting this group with funding. Last week saw the first of three groups of City of Glasgow College –  Nautical Studies Students on board both Alba Venturer and Alba Explorer. The Fundraising Team saw OYT Scotland’s first Charity Comedy Night

Spartan Sprint – 21st September 2014

A brave group from OYT Scotland exchanged their sailing boots for running shoes to raise money at the Reebok Spartan Sprint at Winton House, Edinburgh on Sunday 21st September. Calling themselves “Jolly Rogers”, the team ran the course which encompassed 5k running, and was interspersed with 15 obstacles, including a river run, carrying Atlas balls and finishing with a run through fire. “It was really hard work, but it was great fun

OYT Scotland cadet Alex Jack is today swapping his deck shoes for his running shoes when he takes part in the 2014 Queen’s Baton Relay to commemorate the XX Commonwealth Games to be held in Glasgow at the end of the month. He was nominated to represent Inverclyde due to his volunteering commitments with the trust. This year Alex has sailed on 15 youth voyages, sailing over 3,000 nautical miles,

Ocean Youth Trust Scotland is proud to announce a three-year partnership with the Scottish Government through the CashBack for Communities programme. The Scottish Government is donating £375,000 over three years to allow 576 young people to experience an adventure under sail with Ocean Youth Trust Scotland’s New Horizons programme. Yesterday the Cabinet Secretary for Justice, Kenny MacAskill met OYT Scotland’s CEO and Chairman, accompanied by some young leaders and trustees,
