The 2015 Young Leader Development Programme (YLDP) funded by the Big Lottery Young Start Fund is underway! Our Young Leaders have set off on their two week Challenge Voyage on Alba Venturer to Shetland. The 12 young people joined the boat on Monday in Oban. They spent the first night in Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, then continued their course north and sailed through the night to Kinlochbervie, south of Durness,

Much to the team’s surprise (who were already slightly worried about conquering a 5k obstacle run), they found out on the day that the change of venue by the organisers meant an extra 3+k…

These young people were not the ones who would naturally emerge as leaders in the school environment (e.g. they are not necessarily the strongest academically or on the sports field).
